Classic Massage

The classic massage is the best known and most widely used form of massage because it is so well rounded.  It is the first massage I learned and is still one of my favorites to give and to receive.  Its main purpose is to loosen and prevent muscle tension but it has many other benefits and is very soothing.  It uses five basic techniques (effleurage, pettrisage, tapotement, friction & vibration) based on European concepts of anatomy and physiology. Classic massage often includes stretching as well as passive and active joint movements.
